Kiyo's Sushi (San Diego Gaslamp District)

Phil, a bunch of friends, and I were looking for a sushi restaurant in the Gaslamp District in San Diego. Well, we found this little gem in Urbanspoon, and we were not disappointed one bit. Walking in, we were greeted by a quaint little (although still a bit big - it look like it was expanded years ago) sushi restaurant with old Japanese sushi chefs - just 2 - behind the small bar.

We then sat down and were greeted to 2 other surprises: a menu in Japanese and English and Yebisu! For those of you who haven't been to Japan (like me), Yebisu is rarely found in the US and is a nice Japanese lager. The service was slow, but we were 8 people and we drank them out of Yebisu. Now to the sushi: The overall taste and texture were just fantastic. The presentation wasn't horrible as they were relatively big pieces of fish, but the rice was a bit small and the plates were just average. Here are the scores:
